The subject matter of these pieces has been grounded in vintage photos of my Italian immigrant parents and of myself as a little girl.
They often reference the color, composition and narration of the paintings of the early Italian Renaissance artists, Masaccio, Piero Della Francesca, Signorelli, Mantegna and Giotto.
While imaging the story of my life, I often appropriate imagery from these artists in order to amplify the narrative connection between my work and my Italian ancestry.
My paintings are large in scale with figures that are drawn close to the surface and fraught with personal meaning.
